Galleries
I have been showing my baskets in galleries for several years. I thought maybe I'd post their addresses also.
The Wild Child Gallery, 4625 Pine Island Road, Matlacha, FL is a wonderful gallery of over a hundred artists. Sitting on the water, the courtyard is a great place for a workshop. Visit their website: http://www.wildchildartgallery.com/index.htm
Creations Gallery, 120 Taylor Street, Punta Gorda, FL is in a new location in downtown. Nina, the owner, with her bubbling personality, will be happy to show you around.
Gallery 122 West, 122 West Oak Street, Arcadia, FL is an extension of Cherry Hill Antiques next door. the building used to be a telegraph office and has a wonderful high skylight that illuminates the art work. Pieces of art are changed every two months. See the website for more information: http://cherryhillantiques.com/

Celestial
This has been a fun basket. I needed to create a basket for a show and this one just came together with only a few adjustments! The agate in the bottom is one that I have had for years and never quite found the moment to use it. It happened to be sitting next to some Aventurine faceted pendants I had purchased at another time. Voila! It was fate. I had even been clever enough to buy the small Aventurine filler cubes too. I made much of this basket sitting on the porch of the "White Cottage" At Spanish Point in Nokomis, FL. It's a beautiful tourist attraction overlooking Little Sarasota Bay. The beauty of that place is reflected in the colors of this basket. I demonstrate there on Tuesday afternoons with other members of our guild. Come by and say hello.

Black Lace
The basket begins with a beautiful stone slab of black lace agate. The swirls in this stone contain gray, black, brown, and unusual white colors. I tried to use those tones by weaving pine needles with muhly grass and using three colors of thread. The pendants on the sides are painted jasper, as are the small stones. I think this piece developed better than the picture in my mind. I plan to enter this piece in a show in December.

Tealed Stone
The teal color may be waning in decorating but many of us still love that cross between blue and green. This agate is one of these and just called to be blended with brown pine needles and teal thread. The turquoise pendants are a striking color match to the stone. The swirling pattern gives this piece plenty of movement in any position.

Stillwater
This two piece basket is created from Florida Long Leaf pine needles with gray waxed lined thread. The exposed pine needle heads give the basket a rustic look along with the detailed miniature handle of a Loon.

The Mighty Bear
This basket recently won an Honorable Mention at "The Fall Exhibition" locally. That means it was competing against watercolor and oil paintings, ceramics, and other forms of art. I was pleased with the outcome of muhly grass coiled around an agate slice. The design was completed with artificial sinew while the remainder was stitched with waxed linen thread. Any large pattern is tedious and a pattern that covers this may rows and done on two sides can be hard on the nerves. The horsehair braided top accent helps bring out the color in the agate with the added jasper bear fetish and carved bear claw.
