Horse of Another Color

Never 2 stones alike.  This is Wild Horse Jasper, a similar stone to another basket I made, Ride a Wild Horse.  It just shows how much different cuts can vary in color and intensity.  This piece has a pinker tone, quieter reds and browns.  The coiled Muhly Grass that I grow compliments the cranberry waxed linen thread and the magnesite pendants and beads.  This is a present for dear friend that keeps my muscles knot free.

Moonlight Path

This basket has a wonderful focal point of a slab of Picasso Jasper with Argonite beads off to the side.  The stone has a modern surreal feel.  I matched it with Artistic Jasper pendants and smaller beads.  The Muhly Grass that I grow is wonderful to coil for its strength and length give a basket a firm feel.  This is important as the stones sometimes have significant weight themselves.  Some patterns of gray and black waxed linen thread complete the design.  This basket can be seen at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda From December 3-30 as part of the "JOY of the UNEXPECTED" EXHIBIT in the Goff Gallery.
